March 2026: an independent proposal to examine an acoustic candidate near Java

Victor Iannello highlighted Ed Anderson’s proposed acoustic candidate near Java in March 2026. The proposed association with MH370 remains unproven.

Source / event date:

Victor Iannello’s 10 March 2026 article recommended examining a candidate site proposed by independent researcher Ed Anderson, based on an acoustic event near Java.

The proposal is a distinct research lead. Iannello explicitly acknowledged that the event cannot be definitively associated with MH370 and that the site lies farther north than locations favoured by many other analyses.

What the proposal does not establish

A proposed association between an acoustic event and an aircraft is not the same as identifying aircraft wreckage. This review did not establish official adoption of the candidate site or a confirmed MH370 recovery there.

The coordinates and method are available in the original article. They are not plotted on this site as a confirmed aircraft position.

The March article discusses the contractual circumstances then in effect. Readers should use the later June 2026 government statement for the extended agreement’s dates rather than relying on the article’s earlier contract assumptions.
